How to Start Hiking With Yemane Abraham

Avid hiker Yemane Abraham knows all about the mental and physical health benefits of getting started with the sport. However, Yemane Abraham also knows just how important it is to make sure you’re starting out right. This is the case with any physical activity, but because hiking can be strenuous, Yemane Abraham understands that being well prepared can make it much more enjoyable to ease in to the sport.

Yemane Abraham recommends going with a group of people. It is much safer to buddy up and get out on the trail – where, as Yemane Abraham notes, anything can happen – with a group of friends or even your significant other.

If you are not in shape, then Yemane Abraham believes wholeheartedly in the importance of starting out on slower, easier trails. According to Yemane Abraham, many hiking trails have plenty of resting places so that you can stop if necessary and even have multiple access points so that you can leave if you ever need to.

You should always make sure that you are prepared with comfortable clothing and footwear, says Yemane Abraham. A good, sturdy set of hiking boots or even a pair of trail running shoes will be much better than sneakers. Also, Yemane Abraham recommends wool rather than cotton for socks. Long pants are a much better option than shorts if you are traveling through woods, adds Yemane Abraham, due to the risk of ticks or poison ivy. Also, if it’s sunny, Yemane Abraham believes that a hat and sunscreen are invaluable.
